Nominations Sought for Editorial Board of Early American Literature
Deadline for nominations: December 9, 2024
Founded in 1965, Early American Literature is the official journal of both the Society of Early Americanists and the MLA’s Forum on Early American Literature. EAL’s province is American literature through the early national period (about 1830). Along with the standard writings in English from British America and the US, EAL invites work on Native American traditional expressions, and also the colonial literature of the Ibero-American, American Francophone, Dutch, and German American populations present at America’s conception as a nation. EAL is a double-anonymous peer reviewed scholarly journal published three times a year by the University of North Carolina Press. More information about the journal may be found at https://earlyamericanliterature.org/
EAL seeks nominations for editorial board members. The term of service is five years.
Qualification and requirements of nominees: an established record of scholarship in early American studies, broadly conceived; an investment in helping scholars develop the full potential of their scholarship; commitment to advise the Co-Editors, to shape the content of the journal, and to further the journal’s vision for inclusivity; and willingness review approximately 2-3 manuscripts per year.
Nominations should include:
- Nomination (self-nominations accepted as well as peer nominations) through this Google Form
- A brief statement about why the (self-)nominated scholar would be an effective
editorial board member for the journal - Curriculum Vita (in PDF or .docx format) or link to one’s scholarly website
Thank you for considering this important service to the journal!
